The LaFerrari Aperta Hybrid Supercar
The LaFerrari Aperta Hybrid Supercar debuted at the 2016 Paris Auto Show. Before you get too excited, Ferrari announced that only a few of these will be made. More than that, all of the produced examples have already been spoken for. Yes, Ferrari has introduced a new product and in the same breath taken it away. Have no fear though, we estimate these cars will make their second tour shortly. Who knows, PluginMotorwerks may have the privilege of helping you obtain one of these the second time around.
The Aperta’s Extreme Power
Ferrari has used a solution derived from Formula 1’s Kers System to create a street legal, mega powerful supercar. The Aperta starts with a V12 gas powered engine with a compression ratio of 13.5:1 and combines with a 120 kW electric motor to create 900nm maximum torque.
This supercar is a convertible, which requires heavy reinforcements to the lower section. Targeted modifications in the lower regions have aligned the Aperta with the original LaFerrari in terms of handling.
The LaFerrari Aperta’s Styling
According to Ferrari, the Aperta is a “futuristic and absolutely extreme car” that retains the styling and essential characteristics of the coupé as well as the classic Ferrari styling, while ‘seamlessly marrying form and function’. The only significant difference comes from the door rotation. The Aperta’s doors are at a slightly different angle than the coupé version.
