The Borgward BXi7
The Bordward BXi7 is still in the concept phase, but Borgward has promising plans to bring this SUV EV to fruition. The BXi7 was debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year. Follow along as we review some of the finer points of the BXi7.
Highlights of the BXi7
The battery uses high energy density that enables the BXi7 to achieve a range of up to 500km, roughly about 250mi. The battery can be charged to 80 percent within 30 minutes at a quick charge station. Like many electric cars, the power is divided into 4 smaller engines, with one on each wheel. This gives EVs the appealing advantage of all wheel drive. With a maximum 272hp and torque of 400nm, the acceleration on this SUV is fast. The BXi7 goes from 0-60mph in about 6.5 seconds.
Borgward’s ePROPULSION electric drive platform can be used for both SUVs and sedans so look for an sedan EV from Borgward in the near future. In the meantime, we hope you’ll enjoy reviewing a few promised BXi7 stats from the German auto maker at the bottom of this page.
Who Is Borgward?
You may be thinking; “Who is Borgward?” You wouldn’t be the only one. You may not have heard of them because the German auto maker stopped manufacturing cars in the 1960’s. However, the grandson of founder Carl Borgward has resurrected the brand with a little help from Chinese investors. The history of the brand is fairly interesting, you can read Borgward on Wikipedia.
