Formula E Season 3
Formula E Season 3 will soon kick off and this year they’re hoping to add several cities to their race lineup. Thus far, Formula E has added Hong Kong, Marrakesh, Brussels, Montreal and New York to the series and plans to extend race invitations to several more select cities.
What else is new for Season 3? Quite a lot. As a new and forward progressing championship, Formula E has implemented several changes for the third season. What are some of these changes?
EV Changes
The most visually obvious change comes from the stunning new front wing. The wing is intended to create a strong identity for the championship. The amount of energy allowed has significantly increased. This will enable greater differences in race strategies, making the series all the more exciting. All vehicles have received upgraded batteries, steering wheels and tires.
Formula E Race Changes
Due to the spectacle that was Buemi vs diGrassi in Season 2, the reward for fastest lap has been reduced from two points to one. Also, a few changes have taken place within the teams. Jaguar has joined Formula E and partnered with Panasonic. TECHEETAH, a Chinese-owned team, has taken over Team Aguri and Dragon Racing has partnered with Faraday Future. Several new drivers have been added for the season. The new race stars are: Adam Carroll and Mitch Evans – Jaguar, Maro Engel – Venturi, Jose Maria Lopez – Virgin and Felix Rosenqvist – Mahindra.
Roborace Added
Formula E has added the first-ever autonomous racing car series. DevBot recently completed a lap at Donington Park under full computer control and the series is looking forward to seeing how this progresses. The support of Formula E will no doubt have an impact on the effectiveness and safety of autonomous driving.
Season 3 Starts Soon
