2026 Rivian R2, R3 & Exciting New Updates: What’s Next for Rivian?

2026 Rivian R3X

In recent years, Rivian has gone from mostly unknown to one of the most widely liked EV manufacturers in America. Fans of the Rivian R1T and R1S have patiently anticipated the release of more features, as well as more affordable models. So it is with great excitement that we share more details on the new 2026 Rivian R2 and R3. We’ll also explain what happened to that kitchen insert!

2026 Rivian R2 & R3 Features and Stats

Rivian aims to bring their lineup to the average consumer at a price point more people can afford, starting with the R2. The R2 is a mid-sized SUV, smaller than the R1S, but larger than the R3 crossover. These two models share many impressive stats, so let’s dive into what they offer.

Both the R2 and R3 will feature two battery sizes, with the larger option delivering a range of over 300 miles. This substantial range is complemented by fast-charging technology, allowing an 80% charge in less than 30 minutes.

In terms of performance, both vehicles offer rapid acceleration and dynamic driving experiences. A 0-60 mph time of under 3 seconds, makes these models an exciting choice for those looking for speed and value. The R2, starting at $45,000, is geared towards providing high performance at a more accessible price. Though a price has not been specified for the R3, we expect the starting point to be even lower.

The R3X is a performance variant of the R3. All three offer three motor configuration options—RWD, AWD, and a Tri-Motor setup. This range of options allows for tailored driving dynamics, from everyday commuting to tackling challenging off-road conditions. Their enhanced autonomous driving capabilities also offer a more intuitive and convenient driving experience.

Practicality is a key feature for both models, with ample rear passenger legroom and seats that fold completely flat, providing versatility for various cargo and passenger needs.

Deliveries for the 2026 Rivian R2 and R3 are expected to begin in 2026, but reservations are already open. A $100 deposit will secure your place to be among the first to experience these exciting new vehicles.

What Happened to the Kitchen Feature?

One of the most anticipated features of the Rivian R1T was the pull out kitchen. Unfortunately, that did not make it to production. But before you throw your hands up in the air, just know that Rivian didn’t give up. They may have scratched the pull out, but they have a new variation of the outdoor kitchen that is compatible with more models. Check out the video below, and see how you feel about it!
