Aston Martin Rapide E Debut
The Aston Martin Rapide E recently debuted at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show. This marks the first attempt to bring Aston Martin into the 21st century, a time of ‘rapid’ change favoring the advent of electric vehicles. Recognizing this massive shift, Aston Martin announced in 2017 they would be halting all gas powered prototypes in favor of electric. We are now seeing the first fruits of their effort – the Rapide E. How well have they done so far? Let’s check it out!
Rapide E Specs
The Rapide E specs appear to be top notch, with the exception of range. While the range is common among many EV manufacturers, it’s around 100mi less than the average Tesla. When considering Aston Martin, one would expect the absolute best. However, considering the immense changes taking place in the auto industry, Aston Martin seems to be off to a great start.

- 65 kWh battery – Rear-wheel drive with two motors

The Rapide E As Told By Aston Martin
Through out our many years covering high performance electric vehicles we’ve seen a lot of hype and only sometimes substance. Though some car manufacturers are keen to share artistic pictures and vague promises, we appreciate Aston Martin’s open approach. Though the Rapide E is their first attempt and the promised 155 models have not as of yet been produced, they clearly state specifications and design techniques without unnecessary fluff. They are building reasonable confidence that their EVs will live up to their reputation. We can’t wait to see more from Aston Martin!
