Leap of Faith shortlisted by the ‘Oscars of the advertising world’
The FIA Formula E Championship has been recognised by the most prestigious awards in advertising – the Cannes Lions.
The Leap of Faith stunt – in which renowned stuntman Damien Walters backflips over one of the all-electric racing cars – has been nominated in the best Visual Storytelling in Sports Entertainment category.
The awards are held in Cannes on Friday, June 24, and Formula E is up against well-established brands Pantene, Gatorade and TYC Sports in this hotly-contested category.
Ali Russell, Director of Media at Formula E, said: “It is a great honour to be nominated for such a prestigious award. We are incredibly proud of the Leap of Faith stunt – which has been viewed more than 10 million times on social media – and demonstrates the level of ambition that the series has. Formula E is committed to taking motorsport to a new audience and is prepared to back bold creative endeavours to achieve this. So for this to be recognised by Cannes Lions is enormously gratifying.”
